Not sure what to say?

I had the honor of assisting Suzanne in publishing the "SDEA Advocate", for 15 years. Suzanne taught me how to frame a photo and edit an article. Our monthly session session laying out the paper was always a highlight. We'd sit on the floor of my office, laugh tell stories and somehow at the end of an hour the monthly issue would be laid out. Thanks Suzanne for all you taught me and all the good times we shared.

Her love and passion for the greater Poway area and never ending volunteer spirit will be sorely missed! No matter what event you attended in Poway she had a hand in it. Thank you Emery family for sharing her with us. We have big shoes to fill and Hawks to count.

Mrs. Emery was my journalism teacher at Mira Mesa High. I spent 4 years with her on the newspaper staff in the 1980s. She taught me so much, but especially how to write. And that helped launch me into a career as a History professor. It's wonderful to hear that Mrs. E was a historian herself later in life. She was the epitome of a life well lived! Thanks Mrs. E, Amy Froide

Suzanne and I were staff on the Daily Aztec at San Diego State. Her authenticity shone always. I moved to Washington State 37 years ago, but we kept in touch. She and Bob visited and she took many pictures of old worn out barns, and put them on a disc for me. Despite miles and years of separation, there was always a heartfelt connection. Love to all.

Will miss your warm smile and friendly words.

Suzanne was a very special lady. She was one of the first teachers to welcome our AFJROTC unit to Mira Mesa High School. She was extremely supportive to us as we settled in. A beautiful smile and great sense of humor. Rest In Peace dear Suzanne.
