I met Sybil in the mid-1990's, when my late mother and both of Sybil's parents were in declining health. We became friends, keeping each other laughing and busy with projects of all kinds, helping each other with our parents' care, and sharing memories from eastern North Carolina, where both of us had visited during our childhoods.
