Sydney Harold Henson, Jr., was born on July 12, 1933, in Marbury, Maryland to the late Sydney H. and Alice V. Henson. He was affectionately known and called "Junior" by all who knew him. Our beloved departed this life on Friday Evening, November 14, 2003, in the Kingsbrook Nursing Home in Brooklyn, New York.

His elementary and secondary education took place in Marbury, Maryland. He attended high school in Pomonkey, Maryland. In his younger years, Junior enjoyed participating in America's favorite pastime sport, baseball. He also played in the community band.

In 1953, Junior married Anna Marie Brawner. Junior, his wife, Anna Marie and their three children moved to Brooklyn, New York in 1953. They were blessed with four additional children.

He was employed by The City University of New York at the Borough of Manhattan Community College for twenty years. He retired in 1988.

In addition to working, and raising seven children, Junior was a master craftsman, skilled in all aspects of home construction and repair, whose services were sought after by family and friends alike.

Junior had other hobbies and interests, which included reading, listening to Jazz, cooking, watching Westerns and Mysteries, tickling the ivories without any formal training (playing the piano) and solving complex crossword puzzles.

He was very family oriented. He enjoyed sharing in the accomplishments of his children and was a proud grandfather and great-grandfather. He was very short with words but always got his point across with a smile and a friendly nod.

Sydney was preceded into glory by his infant sister, Theresa, his father and mother, and son, Michael. He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife, Anna Marie Henson, his son, Harold J. Henson, five daughters, Charlotte M. Henson-Butler, Theresa J. Henson, Cheryl A. Slaughter, Juanita M. Baird, and Diane C. Henson; Grandsons, Giovann L. Purdie, Matthew A. Henson, Sean R.
