Sydney Brandilyn Verbena born September 11, 2002 in San Antonio, TX went to be with the Lord on August 23, 2021 at the age of 18. She is preceded in death by her cousin; Kenneth Blaze Amaya; great-grandmother, Dolores L. Ramirez; great-grandparents, Ladislao M. and Estela Galarza; and grandparents, Juan Arturo and Idalia Verbena.
She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Bertina Ramirez and Arthur Walsh; father and stepmother, Moses Galarza Verbena and Monica Fonseca; brothers, Cristian Nathaniel (Lena Davila) and Connor Walsh; grandparents, Rafaela Amaya, Joe Albert and Lupe Hernandez and Sam Amaya; uncles, Saul Verbena and Noe (Ilene Verbena), Sam Amaya and Joe Hernandez; aunts, Regina Terrazas, Christina Bauer, and Georgianne Rocha; niece, Lucia Davila; cousin and best friend, Trinity Gutierrez; cousins, Jacob, Isabel, Abigail, and Joshua; best friends, Mia and Karina; as well as other numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and friends. Her presence will be dearly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
Sydney Brandilyn Verbena was a beautiful person who helped people even after she was gone by being an organ donor. She had a smile that warmed our hearts and eyes that lit up the room. She took time to make herself look “just right,” and loved to dance. Most of all, she loved her friends and family, but we loved her even more. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 from 4:00pm to 9:00pm with a prayer service at 7:00pm. In honor of Sydney's memory we welcome you to wear her favorite color purple. Procession will depart Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1281 Bandera Rd., on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at 11:45am for a 12:30pm memorial service at University United Methodist Church, 5084 De Zavala Rd., San Antonio, TX 78249. Procession will depart the church at 1:15pm for a 2:00pm graveside service at Resurrection Cemetery at Cordi-Marian.
