Sylvan Rodriguez, 52, longtime Houston Television Journalist and KHOU-TV Anchor, passed away on Friday, April 7, 2000, after a 15-month battle with pancreatic cancer. Visitation is scheduled for Monday, April 10, 2000, 3-7 p.m., with rosary at 6 p.m. and memorial service at 7 p.m., at St. Anne Catholic Church, 2140 Westheimer Road, Houston, Texas, officiated by the Rev. Dominic Pistone. Further visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, April 11, 3-7 p.m., at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, 3131 El Dorado Boulevard, Clear Lake, Texas, with Mass of the Resurrection at 7 p.m., the Most Reverend Bishop Joseph A. Florenza, celebrant; the Reverend John Kappe, pastor of St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, the Reverend Dominic Pistone, Deacon Daniel Guerra Deacon Don Duren, concelebrants. Further visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, April 12, 12:30 p.m. until time of funeral Mass in Sylvan's memory at 2:30 p.m., at St. Ann Catholic Church, 210 St. Ann Street, San Antonio, Texas, officiated by the Reverend Eddie Bernal. Interment will follow at Mission Park North Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Sylvan requested that any memorial contributions be made to the Sylvan Rodriguez Foundation, c/o Sterling Bank, P.O. Box 41027, Houston, TX 77241-1027. Arrangements entrusted to James Crowder Funeral Homes, Webster, Texas.
