My condolences to the entire Muckelroy (Muckleroy) family. I've always said that I am related to every Muckleroy because my dad's mother was Bell Muckleroy who lived in San Augustine TX. My dad was Louis Epherson, who had roots also in Kilgore. I met Jasper briefly several years ago thru his son who was attending TSU. Y'all are my kin folks. MF. Muckelroy was a great Mayor, Educator, and father. His legacy will live on and he will be sorely missed. My prayers and condolences are with his family.

A soft-spoken, deliberate and gentle man, Mayor Muckelroy was one of the most honorable elected officials I've met in the 30 years I've been a reporter. Always quiet but possessing a powerful presence, the former mayor made City Council meetings a pleasure to cover.
