PRESTON, Sylvester James, formerly of Ashland, departed this life June 12, 2011. He is survived by his wife, Susan Preston; two daughters, April Jordan and Camille Preston; one son, SSg Wayne Claiborne (Miryoku) Jr.; two grandchildren, Wayne II and Alexis; one brother, Frank Preston (Patricia); aunt, Maryann Cash; uncle, Thomas Preston; sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, other relatives and friends. Remains rest at the Mimms Funeral Home, 19th and Hull Sts., where the family will receive friends Friday (today) 6 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 18, 11 a.m. at New Deliverence Evangelistic Church, 1701 Turner Rd. Bishop Gerald Glenn, pastor, officiating. Interment in Maury Cemetery.
