Sylvia Ann Alvarado, age 69, entered eternal life on July 10, 2025. She was born in Las Cruces, NM to Enrique and Carmen Avalos on December 31, 1955. She is proceeded in death by her parents, her sisters- Estella Valdez, Nellie Bouvet and her nephew Danny Valdez Jr.


Sylvia was a loving mother to her three daughters, Angel, Ana (Ernesto Loya), and Carmylina Alvarado. She was also a proud grandmother to ten grandchildren-Mya, Joaquin, Raeli, Aleena, Addison, Gaven, Aleeya, Jacob, Johan and Luka Levi, whom she treasured deeply and cherished as her greatest joy. She is also survived by her sister, Dora Duran (Henry) and her brothers,  Joe Avalos (Mary), Tony Avalos (Anna), Henry Avalos (Beatrice).


Her life was marked by her dedication to family, her work, and her community. She dedicated many years of her life to working at Hatch Valley Public Schools, impacting the lives of countless students and colleagues with her warmth and kindness. Sylvia’s kindness, strength, and unconditional love will be missed dearly by all who knew her.


She may have left this world, but her spirit and love will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.


A Rosary service will be held on Monday, July 14, 2025, at 6:00 P.M. at Our Lord of Mercy Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass will follow on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at 2:30 P.M. at Our Lord of Mercy Catholic Church. Interment and Rite of Committal will conclude at Garden of Memories Cemetery and a reception at the Hatch Community Center to follow.


Pallbearers will be her nephews- Tony Avalos Jr, Steve Bouvet Jr, Efren Duran, Henry Duran Jr, Enrique Avalos and grandson Joaquin Mendoza. Honorary pallbearers are her grandsons- Gaven Venegas and Jacob Alvarado.
