Sylvia Heidi Carter

Mrs. Sylvia Heidi (Stambach) Carter, 49, of 11206 Healy St., Silver Spring, MD, died Saturday morning, January 15, 2011 in Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, following a seven year battle with cancer. Born November 4, 1961 in East Orange, NJ, she was the daughter of Mira (Tonnessen) Stambach of Silver Spring and the late Adolph "Jack" Stambach. Sylvia graduated from Tacomic High School with the class of 1980. In 1984 she graduated from SUNY Oswego College in Astoria, NY, with a bachelor's degree in economics and math. Following college, she enjoyed traveling throughout Europe on a railpass for a year. She and her husband, Morris C. Carter, were married on June 21, 1997. They moved to their present residence in 1998. Sylvia worked retail jewelry sales for Finley's in Hecht's Department Stores. She later worked for Swiss Army Brands as a merchandiser and analyst, assisting the sales reps. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and gardening. In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by her son, Andrew Morris Carter at home. A public viewing will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M., Saturday, January 22, 2011, in Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle, PA.
