Read MoreDear, sweet Sylvia, rest in peace. I got to know Sylvia a bit when I was working at Wolk Manor. I shared memories of Elmira with her as I was from Elmira. She often spoke of Russia and how she came to the United States and of all her days teaching and how much she loved it. I will miss her sweet smile and send my sincere sympathies to her family.

My brother and sister always spoke highly of Frau Hymes. I was told that she was a phenomenal teacher and scholar. My sympathies to all.

May Sylvia rest in peace. She was a wonderful sister to her brother Dr. Robert Beede. She would bring the staff in his office goodies and they were delicious.
She will be missed.

Sylvia was a wonderful teacher and poet. She encouraged my writing when I was a student at UFA and kept in touch for several years afterward. We were distantly related, also, through my mother (Anna Cohen Solomon).
Sylvia will be missed by former students, family and friends.
