Sylvia Wheeler

I worked with Sylvia at Catlin Gabel as an art teacher with Middle School students. Sylvia was a wonderful colleague, and often offered insights into upcoming classes. She was involved with the Arboretum and I think of her with my trips through that beautiful spot.

We were good friends of Sylvia and Ehrick, attending many dinner and wine parties. I last spoke with Sylvia a few years ago while she was living in Hawaii. I have several of her paintings in my house. She was a lovely person.

Aw Sylvia! I just stepped on my front porch and said "Hi" to the huge & magnificent Norway spruce you planted so many years ago. The house you raised your family in still looks grand & loved. Wait! The new owners fenced the huge back yard. They are right in doing this, but as an artist you refused to break up the few of the park adjacent to your place. Some how, you would adjust & accept the fence. So many people, as I have, received your good humor, advice and true friendship. Thanks...
