Sylvia Wood

Jonesboro- Sylvia Wood, 94, formerly of Caraway, died Sunday, April 08, 2012 at St. Bernards Medical Center. She was born on November 25, 1917 at Jonesboro to the late Henry and Audry Elrod. She married William Buel Wood of Caraway, October 15, 1932 and enjoyed 63 years together. She was a homemaker and a member of the Community of Christ Church. She is survived by her seven children, Estelene Malone of Williams, AZ, Helen Thomas (Ted), Vernon Wood, Barbara Wood, Kathryn Bishop (Ron), Judy Wood Hook, David Wood all of Jonesboro; a daughter-in-law, Caroline Wood; fifteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren and eleven great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Buel Wood; son, Billy Wood; infant daughter, Betty; son-in-law, Ed Malone; four sisters and three brothers. A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at 3:00 pm at the Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home, 300 W. Matthews. Burial will follow at Caraway Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 until time of service at the funeral home. Honored to serve as pallbearers are her grandsons and great-grandsons. Lasting memorials may be sent to Community of Christ Church or St. Jude.
