Not sure what to say?

I have fond memories of Sylvia...she is the first SU staff person I met as an incoming freshman in the fall of 1953. She was sitting outside the office of Norman L. Rice, director of the School of Art. She directed me to my 1st class at SU, sketching nude models, a first for me, and embarrassing. Over the years she was always cheerful and helpful. I wish I had known more about her impressive career when she was still around. Sincere condolences. Donald G. Piper - BFA 1957.

I remember Sylvia well and miss her dearly.

I meet Sylvia working at Caz collage. I started cleaning her house. She was like a mom to me.I loved being around her.She took a shin to my daughter Tiffany. Showed her a few things in art. She was a type of person when she came in your life. Your life would not be the same when she left. She will be missed with love Deborah Houghtaling (Savannah G.A)

I remember Sylvia from my very first day as an incoming freshman, in Sept.1953. I believe it was outside the office of Norman Rice, the director of the School of Art. Our paths crossed many times during my 4-yrs.at SU. She was a warm, pleasant, and supportive influence on me & everyone she encountered.

In reading the multi-faceted details of her life, I have,as often happens, regreted not knowing some of these facts,to discuss with her, when she was still alive.

It is with...

It's the day after Christmas and we just learned of the passing of our dear friend Sylvia. This sad news has put a hole in our hearts. Still, we have many fond memories of this lovely lady who we've known for more than 35 years. Our "visits" the past 25 plus years were usually at Christmas with a card, or an occasional phone call. We had a very nice get together back in 2000 when we were visiting Upstate New York. Sylvia and I always remembered with great fondness our fun birthday lunches...

Sylvia has been a long time mentor and encourager of my watercolors. I will miss her candid and valuable critiquing and her urging me to use PURE COLOR and LOTS of it.
Thanks Sylvia.

Sylvia was my father's cousin and she and my parents kept in touch. We lost contact after my parents died but she wrote me a lovely note after my parents did pass away. I have a watercolor that she did for me in the 70's and I cherish it. The Wyckoff women are very strong people. I am sure her absence will be a void for her nieces and the entire community.. I pass on my sympathy. Janice Wikoff Crane, Phoenix, NY
