To Coach Moore's family

Coach Moore made an indelible impression on me as a young 16 year old freshman at Hampton. I marveled at his athletic ability as I often watched him enter the pool and cover half it's length with barely a ripple on the surface of the water. At that time (I believe coach was in his 60's), I had never met an African Americam man with such ability. Although I was only one of several dozen students in one of his many swim classes, I felt he gave me such...

To the Moore Family:
My thoughts and prayer are with you. Coach Moore inspired and encouraged me to use my skills upon arriving at Hampton as a freshman in 1961 to work as a lifeguard. In his quiet and gentle manner, he began molding my life for me to know that it was possible to live my dreams, being a female did not matter, but the fact that I was qualified and could do the job. He was a wonderful friend and mentor and I will always carry with me the fond memories of him and dear HI....

Coach Moore was as example of a Hamptonian who "let his life(our lives) do the singing". As a Freshman in 1954, his quiet confidence and competency made a positive impression on me as a man who should be emulated.

Harrison R. Duke III, Co-Captian Hampton Institute Varsity Swmimming 72-73. Coach Moore molded me into the swimmer I became. I arrived at Hampton with no competitive swimming experience. Coach was a great motivator and disciplinarian. The fellowship among swimmers at the toot will forever be special, bonded by Coach Moore. "I have... and idea" ... all in favor say?
My deepest condolence to the family.

To the Moore Family,
As a member of the Antoine family, I grew up knowing and learning from Coach Moore. As a student at Hampton I had the honor and pleasure of being a member of his last swim team. Coach Moore inspired me to become a swim instructor. He modeled great patience and had such a gentle spirit. He will be greatly missed, yet the many fond memories and his legacy will live on forever. My prayers are with your family.

My sincere condolences to the Moore family. My college days at Hampton with Coach "Duck" Moore were amazing. He pushed me further than I thought I could go in his swimming classes. He gave me strength and a lot of confidence. I also loved to watch him swim. Sid, God Bless you and your family. May your dad rest in peace.

SID AND ROSALYN ,Nicole Livas emailed me a copy of your father's
obituary. I always ask about you whenever I talk to Henry.
And I just wanted you to know that you ar in my prayers.

To The Moore Family:
My Sincere condolences over the passing of Coach Moore. I remember him fondly as a gentle giant, a patient and dedicated man to his profession and the students of HI. Trying to teach me to swim was not an easy feat and yet he gave it his all as if I were the most important person in the pool. I remember him for his patience while I was in his class but most of all for his kindness and genuine spirit. May your memories of him and his service to humanity sustain you...
