Seale Funeral Service - Denham Springs Obituary

LCpl. Taylor Joseph Conrad, age 24, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, selflessly gave his life on April 3, 2018 while honoring his oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States. Taylor will forever be remembered for the heroic way he lived his short life, served his community, and died to protect his country. Simper Fidelis – Always Faithful. Taylor Joseph Conrad was born December 9, 1993. He grew up in the community of Central, LA. He graduated from Central High School in 2012. Taylor was a bright, fun loving soul who was a member of the football, baseball, power lifting and wrestling teams. However, Taylor will be remembered more for his passion with working with children with special needs. He volunteered at various Central Community Schools in the Special Education Department and then worked at Charis Hills after his graduation. In July of 2016, Taylor fulfilled his childhood dream of becoming a Marine. He graduated from boot camp from Paris Island, trained in Pensacola, Florida and in New River, North Carolina. Then was stationed in San Diego, California. He proudly served as Crew Chief in the HMH-465 squadron. Taylor was preceded in death by his father Marty Conrad and his paternal grandfather Joseph Clyde Conrad. He is survived by daughter, Annabelle Leigh Conrad of Columbia South Carolina; his mother, Dawn Conrad; siblings: Josh Conrad and wife Brandi, Brett Conrad and wife Holly, Van Shannon and wife Caitlyn all of Baton Rouge, LA; Colleen Shannon Brown and husband Blaine of Houston, TX, maternal grandparents Charles and Susan Wimberly of Baton Rouge, LA; girlfriend, Ashton Illingworth of Columbia, SC, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Go Fund Me Legacy Fund, LCpl Taylor Conrad – Legacy Fund. Funds will be used to open a memorial playground for children with special needs. Visitation will be held at Greenwell Springs Baptist Church, 19421 Greenwell Springs Rd, Greenwell Springs, LA 70739, on Monday, April 16, 2018 from 5pm until 9pm. Visitation resumes at the church on Tuesday, April 17 from 9am until Celebration of Life Service at 11am, conducted by Rev. Dale Phillips. Internment with Military Honors will follow in Louisiana National Cemetery.
