Not sure what to say?

My husband Ed Miller and I have lots of memories starring Ted Cashion. One afternoon in a church meeting 20-some years ago stands out for me. Westover UMC was being asked to relieve a neighborhood church of its longtime role of welcoming refugees for Lutheran Family Services. Five men were coming to Raleigh from the mountains of Vietnam where they had fought Viet Cong alongside U.S. soldiers. Some of us were willing to dip a toe in that project, with gifts of surplus furniture, kitchen...

My husband Ed Miller and I have lots of memories starring our neighbor Ted Cashion. One in particular dates back to the early 2000s when Westover UMC fielded a request from a neighborhood church to take their place providing a welcoming for Montagnard refugees from Vietnam. Several of us were willing to put a toe in on that project, but Ted was quickly all in. And he brought his wife Nancy along with him. We witnessed Ted´s ministry to others, his kindness toward all, and his courageous journey with his health. He was a wonderful neighbor and friend, always willing to help others. Our hearts and prayers are with Nancy and all of Ted´s family and friends.

Seeing cousins Tim and Ted were one of the things I looked forward to when we had our family Thanksgiving and Christmas get togethers. Ted's devotion to his faith was inspiring. He was truly a humble man of service. You will be remembered fondly by all that knew you.

What a joy to have known Ted for over 50 years! From our parents´ best friendship, Saturday night card games, traveling to ballgames, Trinity UMC choir and Sunday School, to ECU, marriage, Westover UMC, Emmaus, and Kairos....he was always the kind, quiet but strong and hilarious Ted. The only thing that ever changed was how much he loved and served Jesus and others. I´m so grateful to have known and loved Ted Cashion. He made the world a better place.

Ted was one of the finest men I have ever known, and the greatest friend one could be blessed to have. My memories of our boyhood together in New Bern, and the time I spent with him fishing, hunting, or just visiting will stay with me for the rest of my life. Rest in peace my dear friend. Your life speaks volumes! Jake

Ted was a good co-worker and a good friend. He was truly one of the best people I know. He will be greatly missed.

It will never be the same going into Central without Ted. He was a great man of God that demonstrated it in everything he did will be dearly missed. Rest in peace my friend. Paul Lewis
