Not sure what to say?

I just always appreciated Ted's commitment to educating our youth !!! I know when he developed "The Compton Reading Program" where we mandated that the schools set aside three (3) hours a day to focus on READING !!! This project really started to show some positive results for our students' test scores across the board ! It was a novel approach and Ted was instrumental in making it happen

I was a member of the Compton Unified School District when Ted was hired as the Superintendent ! He was an excellent leader and we were really starting to turn things around when Ted instituted a MANDATORY reading program in our elementary schools ! Our loss was Chicago’s gain !

He was a great man. In my mind, he will always represent to me what the leader of a family should be. I say this while recalling what are some of my best memories - those surrounded by family. Ms. Kimbrough and Family,
My prayers are with you in your time of bereavement.

Ted was Superintendent in Chicago when I was President of the Chicago Board of Education. We came to know and respect him as one concerned about improving education for all.

We are thankful that we were blessed to have shared in a portion of his life.

Florence B. Cox
Former President
Chicago Board of Education

Rest in peace. Ted's support of youth programs, like the YMCA in Compton was greatly appreciated. He was awarded a Patron of Youth Award for that support. He will be missed.

Mr. Kimbrough's loss is a loss for public education. As a teacher in 1980s Compton, I saw him labor against incredible odds to bring order and rationality to a moribund, chaotic system, and achieve notable success. This was a great man.
