Bailey & Foster Funeral Home - Palestine Obituary

A Memorial Service for Ted Salmon, 60 of Grapeland, will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, October 31, 2021 at First Baptist Church in Grapeland with Bro. Kevin Barksdale officiating. Visitation will be held from 2:00-3:00 P.M. prior to the service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.

Mr. Salmon was born May 17, 1961 in Crockett to Annis and Cleon Salmon and he passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2021 in Tyler.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter Amberly Kay Salmon.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years Kim; his daughters MaCall Reeves & husband Cam and Karson Harding & husband Johnathon; his son Gaven Salmon; his grandchildren Jillian, Kloe, Kashlyn, Alizabeth, Abigail, Cutter, Reece, Nash and Gideon; his brothers Tracy Salmon & wife Vickie and Mark Salmon & wife Kim.

Ted was a man who loved God and was always ready to make sure you knew where he stood. He never met a stranger. His life revolved around God and then his family. He will be greatly missed by his wife, his 3 children, and 9 grandchildren. He made sure to spend time with each one of them so they all have sweet memories of Dad and Poppa. Quality time was spent with all of his children teaching and molding them into Christian adults, parents and mentors themselves.

Ted was a man with a true servant's heart. He was the most selfless person anyone could meet. He always put everyone above himself, including his own health. He was always there to lend a helping hand to whoever needed it. To many people around town, he became known as the "wood fairy" because he just pulled up, unloaded firewood and left. If he heard of anyone in need, their need would magically be met and no one ever knew it was him.

Ted was a man with such a sense of humor. When asked why he needed pall bearers even though he was being cremated, his reply was "if we'd have buried him, we'd have carried him", so he wanted them to be recognized. All who knew him, knew that this was his sense of humor. He was always cutting up, telling jokes and he had an infectious laugh.

Ted worked at Salmon's Building Supply from a young age with his dad and brothers. He chose to pursue a career at Vulcraft in 1994. He worked in many different capacities there and always did it with a smile. That was his trademark- his smile. He was known as "Happy Ted".

It was so fitting that he went to be with Jesus at 10:27AM on 10/27. He was always superstitious. Wear the same shirt on game day, pace the fence, same socks, 11:11- make a wish, raise your hands when you go under a train track and your feet when you go over one. Just  little things that always went through his mind. He kept everyone on their toes.

He is in Heaven now hugging his daughter and his parents. Oh what a day that was!! His smile when he got there made Heaven so much brighter. We, here on Earth, will truly miss that smile. Thank you, Ted, for all the precious memories. Very much loved, very much missed.

Those serving as honorary pallbearers are Ben Childress, Mitchell Huff, Chance Huff, Jeff Jeffcoat, David Hooper and Bruce Collins.
