Owens and Brumley Funeral Home - Wichita Falls Obituary

Terrey Jay “T.J.” Carter, 55, joined the angels on January 25, 2022 in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Celebration of Life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, January 31, 2022 at Owens and Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls, with Pastor Chad Stubblefield, officiating.

“T.J.” was born in Baird, Texas, July 7, 1966.  T.J. grew up in Abilene, Texas and graduated from Cooper High School.  He spent 35 years working in construction.

T.J. was an avid racing fan with a collection of trophies he won running at local tracks.  He spent his Sundays during racing season glued to the TV cheering on his favorite NASCAR driver-Jeff Gordan.  He proudly collected Jeff Gordan hot wheels and memorabilia.

T.J.’s greatest love was his family.  He married Sterlyn on May 16, 1992.  They spent almost 30 years together enjoying many vacations in Mexico, and dancing every Saturday night. T.J. was always the life of the party. He had a huge heart and would go any distance for his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Sterlyn Carter; four children, daughter, Debra Amyotte and husband, Clayton; sons, Greg Carter and Brad Carter, all of Wichita Falls, and son, Dustin Carter of Lubbock, Texas, his parents, Madeana and Franklin Salerno Sr.; sister, Joy Brice; brother, Marco Salerno; and six grandchildren, Gage, Madelyn, Carlee, Rayder, Zoey, and Delta.

Rest In Peace sweet cousin. My prayers are with you and your family. I cherish memories of playing with you and Joy at granny’s & pawpaw’s house. Playing in all the old cars making up the best games and pretending. Running and hiding in the dirt when the train went by because we thought it had the bad guys on it. Making up stories. Pulling stickers out of each other’s feet every where we played. Feeding the calves. Watching pawpaw race yellow #4 every weekend. Good memories.
