Terry De Valois

I first met Terry in the mid 70s when he pitched for the Lynden Merchants Fastball club playing at South Memorial Park in Vancouver BC. As the football coach and athletic director at North Delta Secondary Terry and I arranged for our teams to play each other many times in the late 80s and early 90s. We would call each other and just ask the person answering the telephone that we wanted to speak with "the oldest person on staff". We also got along really well because we were both WWU alum....

Terry had a delightful lighthearted spirit that made me happy every time I saw him. He had a cute sports car that fit his personality. .. I used to always park next to him at WWU—and start each summer school day with a cheerful conversation. He was one of a kind!

What can you say about Terry? He was a helluva man, he was. I met Terry while participating in sports in the Lynden School District. He coached my freshman basketball team, taught me in his current events class. I will NEVER forget hauling alfalfa hay bales to his farm! I have seen the many sides of Terry, and I can tell you he put his all into whatever he was doing. Thanks for the memories, rest in peace, DV...
