OWENS, TERRY L. – Of Swartz Creek, age 72, died Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at U of M Medical Center.


Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Father Gabriel Bilas officiating.


Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.


Those desiring may make contributions to St. Mary Magdalene Church.


A Trisagion Service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.


Visitation 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. Monday, April 8, 2024 and 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2024 until the time of the service at 11 a.m. at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.  


Terry was born in Flint, Michigan on January 20, 1952, the son of the late Charles E. and Eddice M. (Peeper) Owens.


On June 7, 1980 he married Freida Papathanasiou at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Flint.


He was a very creative and meticulous man, who took pride in everything he did.


He was a man of few words, full of kindness and compassion. He loved his kids and grandchildren, NASCAR and would always drop everything to help someone.


Terry took beach vacations every winter. He was a devoted husband, father and Papa T.


He owned and operated Delta Paving for nearly 50 years with his brother.


Terry was a founding member of St. Mary Magdalene Orthodox Church.


Surviving are wife, Freida;


children, Kristen (Jason) Jakubus and Stefan (Ann) Owens;


grandchildren, Mia, Cohen and Emme Jakubus, Lucy and Beckam Owens;


brother and business partner, Charles (Minka) Owens; 


sisters, Rena (Danny) Martin and Coyanne (Syd) Farah;


nieces and nephews, Megan, Lauren (Todd), Owen, Adam, Max and Sydney;


great-niece, Leighton and many cousins.


He was preceded in death by his parents.

We are so saddened to hear by the loss of Terry. Our hearts go out to Freida, Kristin, Stephen and families. I met Freida when our children were in Kindergarten and always cherished the special relationship. I remember Terry as a calm, kind and compassionate man. I am so sorry Freida I couldn’t be there as we are still consumed with the tragic loss of our son Derek only 9 months prior. I will be in touch. God Bless. ❤

My heart goes out to you for the loss of your husband, father, grandfather and brother. I hope your happy memories will help you through this difficult time. May the love of God provide you with comfort. We will miss Terry so very much and I pray that God gets him home, that he rests in eternal peace and the perpetual light shine upon him. So sorry to hear of the loss of my friend Terry. My sincerest condolences to Freida,
Chuck, Rena, and the entire Owens family. I had the best time and adventures with Terry. Even though I was not near, Terry was always a good friend in my heart. You'll be sadly missed my friend.

I will miss Terry. he was a good man You always knew where you stood with him hard worker did everything with perfection. I sold Terry tires for years and I always knew when I did not perform up to his expectations. you will be with me always good buddy
