Reverend Samuel Palmer was a true servant of faith. He devoted his life to God in true worship and desires to be used to motivate, inspire, and arouse the Body of Christ to worship God in Spirit and in Truth. Rev. Palmer is the 11th child from a lengthy line of Deacons, Ministers, Reverends, and Pastors in the Palmer Tree.

Rev. Palmer had a special love for God, his family, and the community. The son of the late Rev. Josiah and Zadie Palmer served faithfully at First Baptist Church in Vance, SC under the leadership of his father. Upon graduation from high school, he relocated to New York to be with some of his older siblings. It was there that he met and married the love of his life Elsie Clark Palmer. Their lives were blessed with two children, eight grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.

Rev. Palmer joined First Baptist Church in Harlem, New York, and he was on the move for the Lord. He joined the Senior Choir and became a Trustee under the leadership of his older brother, the late Rev. Benjamin F. Palmer. He worked diligently until he became a deacon and then he accepted his calling to become a minister to further spread God's word in 1979. He was ordained in 1982 and became the pastor of First Baptist Church Harlem, NY in 1984. He served there for 21 plus years. Under his leadership, he started the First Baptist Church Male Chorus,  Pastor’s Aid Ministry, the Rev. Samuel Palmer Mass Choir and the Bus Ministry. They were able to purchase a building, pay off and burn the mortgage. He traveled the East Coast spreading God's word. He licensed three ministers under his pastorship at First Baptist Church in NY.

After retiring from his career job, four years later he decided to move to his home state South Carolina where he rejoined First Baptist in Vance, SC. However, God summoned him to pastor another church, Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Orangeburg, SC, where he pastored for 15 plus years. Rev. Palmer always had a vision of how God shows him how to restore, rebirth, and grow his ministries. At Mt. Olive Baptist Church, he also had the opportunity to help them see his vision. Under his leadership, they paid off their mortgage and had the Mortgage Burning ceremony.

Rev. Palmer served as President of Mt. Olive Congress of Christian Education for four years and served as the President of Pine Grove Union Association for four years. He received so many awards and achievements, but the most prestigious one was when he was honored and awarded the M.A.Lee Scholarship Achievement Award for Religious Faith Based for his dedication, commitment and inspiration to the community and worldwide. All while still supporting his home church First Baptist Church in Vance, the Community Churches, as a staff member with Shuler Marshall Funeral Home, and always being there for family and friends.

His Motto was “Where there is no struggle there is no success.”

His legacy will live on forever!
