Thea B. Van Halsema

I remember Thea. I helped her many times with her photos. She was such a nice lady. I send my condolences to her family on the anniversary of her death. She will live on in our memories.

Thea, or Mrs Van as we called her was one of my mentors. Dr. and Mrs Van were very instrumental in encouraging us in our call to World Missions. Mrs. Van helped in our formation at RBC (now Kuiper) with her classes in Psychology, Counseling, and Marriage and Family and was always ready to give us wise counsel. She was so loving and accepting of us and always saw more possibilities in us than we saw in ourselves. She was godly and helped us have an eternal perspective. She would say that ...

I was a student of Thea at Reformed Bible College .......... all of us who knew her grew accustomed to her expression "dear Heart". She was wonderful, inspiring, and full of life. Anyone could talk to her ....... always open and approachable. George Coomber

Through various circumstances this is rather late, but I still want to add my condolences to Thea's family as they lost a wonderful Christian lady. "The memory of the just is blessed" (Prov.10:7).

She blessed our lives by her love and godly advice.As soon as we came to R.B.C. as international students she became our mother and precious friend. She kept sending us birthday and wedding anniversary cards throughout the years until last year.
Her gracious encouragement to us and her faithfulness to the Lord left a permanent imprint...

Thea was such a lovely lady to know. I met her through Calvin CRC, and she was an avid prayer partner for me throughout my journey to making Profession of Faith. Some of the things I most appreciated about Thea were her faithfulness to God, her persistence in prayer, and her animated reading of Scripture in front of church. Dr. and Mrs. Van were used by the Lord to help direct our lives. Henry and I met at Camp Porvenir and a year later on the Middle East Witness Tour in 1994. I loved keeping in touch with Mrs. Van and would meet her for coffee at 'her Panera' when I was back in Michigan. Henry and I lived in Belgium for 4 years and Mrs. Van gave us a copy of her "Safari for Seven" book which was a great inspiration for the travels we did as a family. Precious Dick and Thea were a mighty blessing and encouragement to us while we served the Lord in Turkey. Not only Godly but exceptionally gracious and practical. They are greatly treasured in our hearts.

Don and I offer our sincere condolences on the loss of such a wonderful woman. We really enjoyed our Lucas reunions when we had a chance to be with her. I'm sorry we cannot join you for the service, but our hearts will be with you nevertheless.
