Our Aunt Thelma was and inspiration to us all. She lived a full life of independence and self-reliance. Amazingly, at the age of 90 and beyond she maintained a household and moved about at will. As the surviving member of the Ellis and Pinkie Roberson family, she exemplified the tradition of strength, warmth and pride which she encouraged us to follow. Although she had no children of her own, her warm and nurturing home was open for nieces and nephews near and far.
Aunt Thelma was an active viable woman who didnt relent easily. Even at age 100, she routinely preferred to water her lawn by hand and groom her lovely flower bushes. She also loved to walk for blocks behind her walker at a surprisingly crisp pace. We all admired her agility and spunk and think of her as a centegenarian extraordinaire.
Thank you, Aunt Thelma, for providing us a model for an exceptional lifestyle of seniority. You have inspired us by example to live life to the fullest, accept and love persons for who they are, and to strive to maintain the family bond.
We love you and will miss you greatly!

Aunt Thelma, as she is known to everyone in the family, always said to me "Lee you come and visit me, you hear, there is good fishing in Portland and the weather is really nice this time of year". Well, I did go visit Aunt Thelma a second time to celebrate her 100 birthday. She was really dressed up. She had slowed down a bit since I last say her, but she was not missing any thing happening around her presence. She introduced me to her friend, and said "Lee, she is one-hundred and three". I said, "Aunt Thelma "What's in the water out here". I thank God for giving me the wisdom and the means to visit her. When I was leaving, she said "Lee, you come back and visit me anytime, Portland is a nice place and you are welcome anytime!" Aunt Thelma, I'm here again to visit you at you homegoing. God is with You.
