Aunt Thelma was my Moms sister-in-law, yet I know mom felt as close to her as she did her own sisters. When I began taking care of my mom and dad a few years ago, I was amazed and so grateful when I saw that Aunt Thelma called mom at least once a week. Those calls made such a difference to my mom who had become so isolated…they really lifted her spirits. During those few years I had a lot of time to finally get to know Aunt Thelma really well. She was so supportive and always there for me...

It's been a few years since I last saw Thelma, but she always reminded me of Grandma, her sister Berthine. Thelma was such an uplifting person, always laughing and loved to laugh. She will be remembered always.

I was always told I resembled or reminded the family of your Mother, my Aunt Thelma. I never did hear the details of why that was, but I was more than okay with being told that. Your Mom was a very special person, indeed. She had the hardiest laugh, and we always enjoyed her visits to South Dakota. May it be a comfort for you to know that your Mother is in a much better place than we can ever imagine.

I am missing Aunt Thelma so much. I loved visiting with her on the phone. It was so easy for her to laugh, and she always "made my day", even the evening before her surgery. I am so glad I talked with her that one last time! Niece Mary
