Not sure what to say?

When I moved to Yorktown in Jan. 1949 I attended Poquoson High School (PHS) and over the years I had Thelma Hansford as my teacher. She was a wonderful teacher, she keep your attention and interest and although I passed Latin, really not sure of its benefit. Thelma Hansford made going to PHS a real pleasure and rewarding for me. I am having our 60 yr. class (1953) reunion on June 22,2013 at my place and now sorry that Mrs. Hansford will not be with us this time John McPherson

Mrs. Hansford was my Latin teacher for 3 years. I don't remember much Latin but I remember Mrs. Hansford's love of history and her enthusiasm and delight in writing York County's history. I am so grateful she cared enough about the County to not only record its history but also teach it.

Cousin Thelma was such a darling. I'll never forget her giving me a copy of her Howard manuscript. After that, she shared even more during our long correspondence. May she rest in peace and may light perpetual shine upon her.

Thelma, many years ago in 1972 I had you for history class at York High School.. You lived a long long life. May you rest in peace with Our Lord

Bobby. I was saddened to hear of your Mom's passing but I know that she was ready. She meant a lot to me and was a special lady. We have lost truly a wealth of historical knowledge and she will be greatly missed. I wish you the best in everything that you do.

Bobby and Family.
What an amazing life your mother lived and the many people she inspired during her years here on earth-she was such a intelligent lady and did so much with her life-she will be missed but I know she is at rest now. Thinking of the whole family.

I was so sorry to hear of Mrs.Hansford's passing. She was our government teacher at York High School and she was our organist at Grafton Christian Church in Grafton for many years. She was such a sweet , kind lady and she cared about her students so much. We talk about the memories of so many teachers at our YHS reunions and she is the first one we speak about, she really loved being a teacher. May the Lord comfort you, you are all in my prayers. GOD BLESS YOU MRS.HANSFORD.

Bobby, Your mother was a very significant person in my younger days and I remember vividly our daily trips to George Wythe Junion High along with you and HL Smoot. I visited her many times in the years after I left Seaford and was always inspired by her energy and breadth of interests. She lived a long, fulfilling and productive life and left me and others with fond memories. God bless her soul and you and your family. Gerald Shields
