HEATHER, Thelma
Thelma Heather, age 90, passed away Sunday morning, March 22, 2015 in Austin, Texas. Thelma was born to Charles and Emma Otis in Trinity, Texas on December 19, 1924. She moved to Austin in 1957. She was employed with The Daily Texan at the University of Texas from 1965 until her retirement in 1985, and yes, she was an avid Longhorn fan! She was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi for 75 years and loved her Sisters dearly. She was a member of the Texas Tole Painters and served on the Board of Austin Caregivers. She is a long time member of The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection. Thelma was a very loving mother, grandmother, friend and neighbor.

Thelma is survived by her children, Bradford "Rallie" Williams, and wife Flor, Barbara Heather, and Patricia Heather Browder, grandchildren Carmen "Christy" Tydings, husband Ed, Jamie Williams Muffoletto, husband JJ, Stacy Browder Ussery, husband Drew, Emily Adams Guilbeau, husband Sam, Rafael Paul Williams, Vanessa Williams, Nicole Williams, Lynda Jones, Christine Malone, husband Chuck, and Allen Browder, wife Natalie. Thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.

Visitation will be held at Cook-Walden, Pflugerville on Wednesday, March 25, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. The service will be held Thursday, March 26 at 10:00 am, graveside service to follow. Pallbearers include: Ed Tydings, JJ Muffoletto, Drew Ussery, Sam Guilbeau, Bradley Guilbeau and Blake Guilbeau.

I am very sorry to hear of Thelma's passing. I got to know her briefly when I joined the board of directors of North Central Caregivers. She was always so kind and patient. And always smiling. God bless her and I send best wishes and memories to her family

Words cannot express the loss I am feeling right now. I can only hope to in my life to touch as many people as you did in yours. You were an amazing grandmother, counselor, and confidant. I hope that my life will be a testament to the legacy you leave behind. You are missed, but I know you are looking down on us free of pain smiling. Oh Ms. Thelma, you will be sorely missed by more people than you could shake a stick at!
Thank you for your friendship and the hugs I continued to receive from you even after I wasn't at ECR so often. When I was leading the ECW you educated me quickly!! Actually you scared me a bit. You were and continued to be so very direct. That I learned as time went on was one of your special qualities. No foolin' around! Thelma Heather was one of the most elegant and hospitable ladies I have ever encountered. I remember at one Mother/Daughter luncheon of Beta Sigma Phi that Thelma and my mother both were amused that they shared the same first name! She is a great loss and heaven is the more lovely for her presence there. My deepest condolences to her children and grandchildren.

Thelma. What words can I use to describe what you meant to me. You were that special someone who stood out in a room. You had a way of making everyone feel special; you made me feel a part of your close knit family. I remember telling you more than once that I wanted to be like you when I grew up; I so admired you. Thelma was a good friend and a wonderful Beta Sigma Phi Sister. I have known her since 1975 and she has been a great mentor to me, along with
many of her Beta Sigma Phi Chapter Sisters. She was one of the first ladies in her sorority chapter to get and learn how to use a computer.. So she would keep me informed of what was going on in her chapter and gave them messages that were posted online. We lived in the same complex for 12 years and saw each other often. I loved that she did tole painting and she had a group of friends who came to her house to paint. Thelma was a
beautiful person and I shall miss her!

What an amazing woman. Although I only had the pleasure of her company a handful of times, that's all it took to know that she was one of the greats. Her wit and her commanding, yet loving presence, her generosity and strength were so apparent. I'm so grateful to her for raising up and pouring herself into some of the most wonderful people on earth. She leaves quite a legacy of love.

We came into your life November 7, 2007 and you left us this past Sunday. We have come to grow much wiser because of your wisdom and the many times you have fixed me. Wow what a Mom! There are words that come to mind when I think of this amazing woman: loving, generous, caregiver, role model, strong, funny, kind, friend, traditional, ok yes headstrong, lol have you met my mother!! Oh I forgot ORGANIZED! Thanks for that mom. She was so accepting of us as kids and as adults. If we were happy she was thrilled. Her love for her family was unconditional. She will be missed on so many levels I can't even express them. I want to thank her here for the beautiful foundation she laid for me as a woman, as a mother, as a friend, as a person. She taught me so very much by example. The party is still going on in heaven with all of her loved ones and friends that passed before her.
