Thelma McCarter, age 47, passed away on December 15, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, TX.
Thelma was born July 1, 1965 to the Late Austen McCarter and Late Brunella Bluiett McCarter in Beaumont, TX. Her Family moved to DeQuincy, LA in 1969 and united with Bethel AME Methodist Church. She attended public school in DeQuincy, received her G. E. D. and Nursing Assistant Certification while attending the Job Corps in Oklahoma.
Thelma was a diligent member in the church, working with the youth organization and Sunday School. She was an active member of the NAACP as secretary until health complications limited her participation.
She was preceded in death by parents and brother: Edward Jackson, Sr.
She leaves to cherish her memory; brother: Amos Jackson, Jr. (Rachel) of DeQuincy, LA., sisters: Bessie Bluiett of Beaumont, TX. and Delores Bluitt of DeQuincy, LA. Sister-in-Law: Barbara Jackson of Houston, TX, and a host of nieces, nephews, as well as other friends and relationships.
A viewing will be held at Bethel AME Methodist Church, 511 South Grand Avenue DeQuincy, LA 70633, Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012 at 11AM.
