Wilson Funeral Home - Tampa Obituary

Home going service in loving memory of Mother Thelma M. Peterson who passed away on Saturday March 6, 2021 will be held at Beulah Baptist Institutional Church, 1006 W. Cypress Street, Tampa, Florida on April 3, 2021 at 12:00 noon with the Pastor Rev. Calvin Williams, Officiating Rev. Dr. W. James Favorite, Eulogist. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.


Mother Thelma M. Peterson was a native of Tampa, Florida born on October 22, 1928 to the parentage of David and Odessa Wynn. She was educated in the public schools of Hillsborough County.


She worked at Tampa General Hospital until she retired. She accepted Christ at an early age. Mother Peterson was a long time and faithful member of Beulah Baptist Institutional Church where she served faithfully on the Mother Board.


She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Odessa and David Wynn; grandmother, Mary Copeland; grandfather, Bennie Copeland; uncle, Henry Copeland and wife, Ann Copeland and god brother, Johnnie Moore, Jr.


Mother Peterson leaves fond and loving memories with her 2 daughters, Alice W. Maddix and Louise L. Peterson and finance, Ronnie Lee all of Tampa, FL; 1 son, Jerry K. Peterson, Sr. and wife Jeanne of Tampa, FL; grandson, Jerry K. Peterson, Jr. and wife Cynthia of Tampa, FL; granddaughter, Jashira N. Peterson of Tampa, FL; a host of loving nephews and nieces; cousins including, Raydell Maddix of Clearwater, FL; friends, Bonnie, Robert, Krystal Collins of Atlanta, GA; devoted friend, Carrie McFadden; god daughters, Rhonda Fay Dula, Kathy Hill and Betty Godwin; neighbors, the Hunter, Moore and Bivens families; a host of other loving relatives and friends.


There will be a viewing on Friday April 2, 2021 at Wilson Funeral Home, 3000 N. 29th Street, Tampa, Florida from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. Due to the current CDC restrictions, we are asking that you use the visitation as an opportunity to pay your final respect. For your convenience and safety, we have extended our visitation hours.
