It was with great sadness that I learned about Thelma's recent passing. Thelma was a good friend to me when I lived in Cleveland and she introduced me to the College Club, which gave me the opportunity to meet so many wonderful ladies, including Thelma herself. I remember her kindness when she hosted a birthday party for me at her home and more recently when she would go read to my dear friend Betty whose eyesight had begun to fail. From 1992 to 2002 Thelma was my volunteer in the African American Archives at the Western Reserve Historical Society. She was an invaluable manuscript processor helping to process and catalog numerous African American history collections making them accessible to the public. This was part of her personal charge to promote African American history.
