Thelma I. (Hunsberger) Stech, 98, of Whitehall, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 29, 2022. She was the beloved wife of the late Stephen Stech, who passed away in 1994 after 56 years of marriage. Born in Northampton County in 1924, she was a daughter of the late Franklin and Pearl (Diehl) Hunsberger. She grew up in Northampton until she married Stephen and moved to Whitehall. A process checker at the former Western Electric Co. in Allentown, she retired in 1981. Thelma was honored with life membership to the Telephone Pioneers of America. She was an active member of Grace United Church of Christ in Northampton. For many years, Thelma enjoyed the company of good friends at the Northampton Senior Center, Friendly Fifties, Young at Heart, AARP, and Coplay Seniors. Her life was filled with an abundance of love and laughter. Thelma took great joy in crocheting and crafting, as well as cheering for the Philadelphia Phillies. One of Thelma's greatest pleasures came from spending time with family hosting Christmas Day at her house serving her homemade halupkies. The family would like to sincerely thank all the caring people at the Inpatient Hospice Unit on West Chew Street in Allentown, who aided in making her final days comfortable. Thelma will be remembered and dearly missed by her devoted family, including her daughter, Cheryl (Stech) and son-in-law, Barry Kocher, as well as son-in-law, Charles Druckenmiller. She is predeceased by her daughter, Brenda (Stech) Druckenmiller, who passed away in 2021 and is dearly missed. She will be remembered with great fondness and affection by her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including Chad and Heather, Avery and Hailey Druckenmiller; Beth (Kocher) and Kevin, Grey and Freya Gormley; Kyle and Emily, Madison, Maximus and Marley Kocher; Tori (Druckenmiller) and Andrew, and Keegan Edelman, Andrea (Kocher) and Joseph, Harrison and Charlotte Przasnyski. She is survived by her sister, Lorraine Arndt, and sister and brother-in-law, Loretta and Richard Fenstermaker, as well as her cherished nieces and nephews, who she deeply cared for. She is predeceased by her siblings, Clair Hunsberger, Edwin Hunsberger, Goldie Reiss, and Doris Batz. Services: A prayer service will be held on Monday, Dec. 5th at 10:00 a.m. in the Reichel Funeral Home, 326 E. 21st St., Northampton. Family and friends may call Monday morning from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Allen Union Cemetery, Northampton. Online condolences may be offered at www.reichelfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, donations, if desired, can be sent to the Inpatient Hospice Unit, 4th floor, 1627 W. Chew St., Allentown, PA 18102, or Grace United Church of Christ, 902 Lincoln Ave., Northampton, PA 18067 in loving memory of Thelma.
