Not sure what to say?

Today she was on my mind as she often was but today I thought to look her up on FB. Everyone's on FB, right? To my suprise I found her obituary. She was one of my favorites and the type of teacher you don't forget. I was fortunate to live next door to her mother and my mom decided to try me out in public school that year. I got lucky! I had her. The best 6th grade teacher. I remember thinking, all the kids wanted her as a teacher! She pushed you, but gently and always smilng! She...

She was one who helped lay my educational foundation. I'll be forever grateful!

AFTER GOD AND PARENT(S), A CARING, CONCERNED, AND DEDICATED TEACHER IS PRICELESS IN THE LIFE OF A CHILD. IT IS THAT "LEGACY OF EXCELLENCE" THAT PROVIDED THE TOOLS NECESSARY FOR A PRODUCTIVE AND SUCCESSFULL LIFE...AS MANY STUDENTS HAVE ALREADY EXPRESSED...MRS. TAITT DEMANDED ONLY THE BEST WITHSTANDING ALL OBSTACLES .... STANDING TALL ON A "ROCK" OF PERSERVARANCE AND LOVE.

MAY THIS "LIGHT" CONTINUE TO BURN IN REMEMBERANCE OF THE "BRILLIANCE, GIFTS AND TALENTS" INSTILLED IN SO MANY...

To my counselor, and my friend, you were all of them and more. In the late '60's when I was at Monument School you took me under your wing and helped me get through a very rough time in my life. I thank you so much for being the Thelma L. Drakes that always showed love to all the kids that needed it. May you and God, in heaven, enjoy the playback of all the wonderful moments of your demonstration of God's love here on earth.

I offer my condolences to the taitt family. Ms Taitt was a teacher of mine at Monument School a teacher who made a difference in the lives of many men and woman in the area. I speak of her and the many teachers of Monument School all the time because they made a difference in my life. I feel honored to have known her and had her as a teacher. God bless you all.

Mrs. Taitt. What can I say. She was one of those teachers that come along once in a lifetime! She did so much for me as a student. She will be miss! .. I remember my the last marking period with her she pulled out my report card and said, “You should be ashamed of yourself !" I almost fainted. Then she said ,"u missed HONOR ROLL by one grade!! You can do better than that!!!!!!!!! Before that I did not even come close to making honor roll that year! She knew I was a better student than that!

Aunt Tookie, was an extension of my family. I will truly miss our conversations, her notes, cards and letters, her words of encouragement and visits. Aunt Tookie's presence will be missed. I am blessed to have had her memories that will have an everlasting impression in my heart and life each day forward.

God has given you a place to rest in peace Aunt Tookie.

My deepest condolences to the family and friends,

Deirdre "PeeWee" Damon (Parrott Family)

My heart is heavy as I write this morning. I just found out my favorite teacher throughout school passed away. Mrs Thelma Drake Taitt taught 6th grade at Monument Elementary School, for 35 years. She was my teacher in the class of 1978. She was not just a teacher she really cared about her students and there life. She is the reason that I loved spelling, because we had a spelling test every Friday. And I always wanted to make her proud by getting and A+. She also taught my brother, and...

I remember fondly and gratefully the years Thelma served on the Mercer County Commission on the Status of Women. Upon review of her life's work, I trust she will hear Him say, "Well done thy good and faithful servant. Enter in."
