Thelma E. Talbert

Thelma E. Talbert, 96, of Athens, passed away Monday, September 14, 2009 at Holzer Medical Center in Jackson. She was born June 22, 1913, in New Straitsville, Ohio, daughter of the late William "Dude" and Blanche Crawford Grandy. Thelma was the widow of the late Melvin Talbert. She was a retired United States Postal Service Clerk in The Plains and was a member of McDougal United Methodist Church. Thelma is survived by a daughter, Mary (Ralph) Brown of Athens; grandchildren, Melvin Ray (Brenda) Brown of Athens and Jeff (Michelle) Brown of Nelsonville and great grandchildren, Ray M. Brown, John Brown and Amy (Travis) Hine. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Thomas and Robert Grandy and a sister, Velma Grandy. Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Friday, September 18, 2009 in the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville with Rev. Joe Blosser and Rev. Stanley Strode officiating.
