Theodis Clayborne, born on September 18, 1922 in Yazoo City, Mississippi, passed away March 18, 2017. He was the son of the late Earnest Clayborne and the late Gladys Douglass Clayborne. He spent most of his childhood and young adult life in Memphis, Tennessee. His brother, Joseph Clayborne, sister, Lillie Bell Howard and his wives, Veterine Barnes Gray and Mary M. Clayborne, all preceded him in death. While in Memphis, he met and married the late Veterine (Sweet) Barnes. From their union, they were blessed with one daughter, Cheryl R. Clayborne Johnson and two sons, the late Theodis Clayborne, Jr. and Ethan R. Clayborne. In 1957, the family relocated to Gary, Indiana, where he began his employment at Inland Steel and remained there until retirement. Theodis leaves to cherish his memory, loving daughter and son, Cheryl R. Clayborne Johnson and Ethan (Esther) Clayborne; five granddaughters, one grandson, eleven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and one nephew; cousins, step-children, extended family and friends, and special son-in-law, Robert "Poochie" Johnson. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2017. Visitation 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. followed by funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Family Christian Center, 340 W. 45th Avenue, Munster, Indiana 46321. Interment at Evergreen Memorial Park, Hobart, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Golden Living Center, 3175 Lancer Street, Portage, Indiana 46368 and Aseracare Hospice Foundation, 808 Vale Park Road, Suite 200, Valparaiso, Indiana 46383.
