I attended DHS from '61-'62 but did not have Prof. Repsholdt for a class. I did read a book in 1963 entitled BUT NOT NEXT DOOR by The Rosens, that told of events in Deerfield related to civil rights and housing in 1960-61. A small portion of Ted Repsholdt's ethics and wisdom and courage are described in that book. What a great servant and example to many, many people. John Conley, Texas

Ted (jr.)- I'm really sorry for your loss. When your dad was at DHS as the Principal, he seemed like a really good guy. That's exactly what he was. While history teachers usually talk/teach about the content of books, I didn't think I'd actually read about him IN an historical oriented book, which involved a U.S. Supreme Ct. decision. A real plus for the community.

Like Jerry Buckles earlier lovely note, Ted (as I was able to finally call him over a drink at our 45th DHS Class of 63 Runion) I was in his first Deerfield homeroom. If Jerry was a challange, I was a brain twister, as I was a very "late bloomer". But I always look back fondly to homeroom and greatly value Ted's firm guidance and dry humor. Sometimes appreciation of really great people takes longer, and he will always hold a special place in my heart and mind.

I had the good fortune to have been in Mr . Repsholdt's home room as a member of Deerfield High School first graduating class. He also had to deal with me on the golf team. I have no doubt, that I was one of his biggest challenges, as we say today. I remember Mr.Repsholdt, (no Ted stuff!), as being respected by all of my classmates and liked as well. He had a strength, a firmness, but was also understanding and fun. He seemed to me to be a very proper man and possessed a fondness for...

As my favorite teacher at Deerfield High School, Mr. Repsholdt made a tremendous impact on me and created a love of history in me that has followed me my entire life. His classes were more like a college seminar since he encouraged us to think and research, express our ideas and follow our ideals. His life is a testimony to what a teacher should and can be. To his family I send my condolences for their loss. He leaves a huge legacy in his family and porfession. He has touched...
