Theodore Frederick Cox, 81, of North Caldwell, N.J., and Naples, Fla., passed away peacefully on Friday night, after a courageous battle with Wegener's granulomatosis. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 30, at 3 p.m. at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 271 Roseland Ave., Essex Fells....

I had the honor of working with Mr. Cox on our tree committee at Wilderness C. C. His insight and suggestions for various plants was always helpful. Jay Staton, Head Golf Professional, Wilderness C. C.

I felt it was a privilege to know Ted. He was a straight shooter. I dealt with him on many levels both in Cedar Grove and in North Caldwell. He knew i was involved with the North Caldwell Fire Department. We often talked about that and his days as a councilman in North Caldwell. I surprised him one time when I told him I started my career in the Fire Department on the same day that his house burned back in November 1972. May He Rest In Peace.

Ted was a good man and a great Mountie. Without him Montclair High's 1946 State Championship trophy would be in a dump.

THE TED COX I KNEW...

When I drink my coffee I usually check The Star Ledger for the Obituaries, but this morning I was in a hurry and had to pick up a prescription at CVS in Cedar Grove, leaving the paper with my husband Rolf in the car. Upon my return he said, "I have some very sad news for you...a good friend has passed away." I took the paper and could not even imagine who when I saw the handsome face of Theodore Frederick "TED" Cox smiling at me and my heart flip...
