Rigby Harting and Hagan Funeral Home - Media Obituary

Dr. Theodore Philip (Ted) D’Orazio, 83, longtime resident of Media, PA, passed away January 2, 2021.  Ted is survived by his wife Anita (Lombardi) D’Orazio as well as his three sons Ted D’Orazio (Robin), Michael D’Orazio and Dan D’Orazio (Melissa). He is survived by his three grandchildren, Zachary D’Orazio, Cody D’Orazio and Taylor D’Orazio as well as his nieces and nephews, Lynda D’Orazio, Joel Lombardi, Rosanna Chomo (Matt), Joe Snell and Andrea Balzer (Tim) and sister-in-law, Mary D’Orazio.  Ted is predeceased by his parents Theodore R. and Laura (Melchiorre) D’Orazio as well as his brother and best friend, Dr. Ronald D’Orazio (Mary).

Ted was born in Philadelphia and grew up in the city.  He met his high school sweetheart, Anita, in 1952 and they recently celebrated 60 years of marriage.  After marrying Anita, Ted attended Philadelphia College of Pharmacy & Science for his degree in Pharmacy and then further obtained a medical degree at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Ted was a successful family physician in Glenolden for nearly 40 years who was not only dedicated to his medical practice and the helping of others but more importantly, was a devoted family man.  He was a regular attendee at his three sons’ many athletic and extracurricular activities. He enjoyed spending summers at the shore with his family and friends, boating, relaxing and enjoying life.  He especially loved a good card game, whether it was with his extended family in Florida or his new men’s club card group in Granite Farms where he currently lived.

In addition to being a wonderful husband and father, Ted was an active volunteer in the community long after his retirement, giving his time as a physician to local free clinics.  He was also a member of St. Mary Magdalen Church for over 50 years, where he volunteered as both an Usher and a Greeter.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, January 29th. The Family will receive guests at 10:00 am with mass to follow at 11:00 am at Saint Mary Magdalen Church in Media, PA.  A graveside burial service will be held at Saints Peter & Paul Cemetery in Springfield, PA immediately following.  In lieu of flowers, donations to Saint Mary Magdalen Church Endowment Fund in memory of Dr. Theodore P D’Orazio are welcome.

Not sure what to say?

Dr. Ted was my doctor throughout my childhood until he retired during my college days. He was caring, witty, and a damn good doctor. The world would be a much better place if we had lots of Dr. Teds.

I was thinking of Theodore today and decided to look up his name. I am very sorry to see that he passed. Theodore and I were friends and classmates at St. Edmonds school. He was always a lovely boy, polite and a gentleman. My condolences to his famiky.

I am so sorry for your loss Dr. D’Orazio was my dr from when I was 2 yrs old until he retired. We were the 3rd family to sign on when he opened his practice in Glenolden. Dottie was always so friendly. Please accept my deepest condolences on your loss. I have many fond memories he was a fabulous Dr. and a wonderful man.

We hold many fond memories of life’ s celebrations with Ted and he will be sadly missed. We are grateful for our time together and the joy and light he brought to those he loved. May his memory be a blessing!

Ted was a wonderful loving man. He always had a kind word and a twinkle in his eyes when he smiled. May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.
