Stumbled upon this information and now I regret that I did not reach out while Mr Dorr was still alive - he was my 5th grade teacher at Clinton Elementary in Ann Arbor in 1973-74. I probably had 100 or more teachers over the years but Ted honestly stood out as someone who really cared about me - and saw potential - and treated me like I would be a success. I only lived in Ann Arbor for 2 years and have never been back but the memories have never left me. A man is not known for what he...

Hello Fran, don't know if you will get this message or not but I happened to see the obit. about Ted and was very sorry to hear of his passing as I knew of course of his cancer when we still lived in Saddlebrook. I have often wondered about the two of you since we moved to Prescott. You probably don't know however of my Gus passing away on July 2, 2013 (5 years now). I miss him so much, think of him every day, we were together 39 years, but he did get to be in Prescott. where he wanted to...

Ted making friends with a desert tortoise in Arizona. He loved animals!
Why did Ted substitute teach after he retired from teaching. The answer is that he just plain loved to teach and inspire children. And do you know what he did with his earnings? He gave them to me to support my artistic hobbies. It enabled me to take more classes and develop my skills. He was a sweetheart and I miss him every day.

Ted was an exciting teacher. I taught with Ted at Clinton Elementary. We always had a great time joking and working with each other. I used to go into Ted's classroom after lunch and put on records and the kids and I would dance. Ted used to kid me about using the record Crocodile Rock.(goes to show you how long ago that was-record players). I'm glad that he always remember to invite me to the Clinton School luncheons. Ted I will miss all your emails and pictures! I'm glad we were friends....

Rest in peace, Mr. Dorr. He was my favorite teacher! He was my 3rd grade teacher and made it one of my best years. I didn't realize it at the time, but he must have been only 26 at the time - so young! That must have been why he had so much energy and creativity. I know he had a positive impact on many young kids.
