Not sure what to say?

Mr Haddin was such a precious, sweet man. We knew something must've happened since we had not heard from him. Every 6 months he would call Dale, my husband, to come service his heat or a/c for the season, even after the company closed 10 years ago, and would call whenever he had other issues or just to check on our family. I was concerned because he always called. We would check on him, as well. But, my Dad passed away 3/11/24 and my Mom passed away 8/14/24 so we kinda let things slide. Wish...

I am just now learning of Ted's passing last year. He and I were colleagues at UAB, where he kind and welcoming to a new faculty member. He was all things I value in a friend and colleague; kind, inquisitive, a very well-rounded cultured person. He lived a long and honorable life, bringing his light to many corners in the university and city. I am saddened by his passing but lucky in having known him. His memory is a blessing.

Ted, I am truly sorry to hear that you have moved on to another realm. I meant to write, but then I didn't-- so tied to poetry that I was. In whatever other place your spirit stands playing, please know I think of you being there. Peace and love, chi kana bilia, Jim.

Our family has known Ted for about 20 years. He was one of the most wonderful human beings we ever met. Incredibly multi talented, smart, knowledgeable, kind, sincere.
He genuinely loved classical music. Ted regularly attended UAB Department of Music concerts, especially piano recitals. Every time we had a student or faculty recital, we would look at the audience and see Ted. It made us feel so happy. At some point he stopped coming and we knew that it is his health that is preventing...

I had the honor of publishing Ted's last book. I'm so sorry to hear he's gone already. I've only just started to know him.

I first met Ted years ago I believe at the Unitarian Church here in Birmingham with my father Charles Cleveland, they were already very good friends but it would not be long before we connected because of our mutual love of the arts. I am and artist and a designer Ted of course, was a very accomplished poet and a magician when it comes to playing the violin. We had a lot to discuss and met many times at a local Indian restaurant, he was always interested in hearing about and seeing my...

Ted was lovely, brilliant, witty and wise. We enjoyed many brief but humorous chats over the years. I was honored to publish him in the Birmingham Arts Journal. Doubly honored to locate many of the obscure books he desired. He was a giver and a doer. As Langston Hughes said, "I loved my friend. He went away from me. There's nothing more to say. The poem ends, Soft as it began--I love my friend."

Ted was one of my father´s (poet and writer Andrew Glaze) best friends. They gave each other feedback and editing advice on their poems and writing, and shared a lively and wry sense of humor. Ted was a lovely and caring person; he made efforts to stay in touch after my father died, and my stepmother Adriana and I were very fond of him. I am pleased that he managed to finish his last book. As is usual for writers, it look him a lot longer than he thought it would. Love and...

I first met Ted at Mississippi Philological Association meetings in the 1990s, and admired his poetry, his wit, and his violin music. It was always a delight to see him at these conferences, and later to work with him on the magazine Poetry South where he was a contributing editor. It was always a treat to get a call from Ted. He was a great supporter of the arts and poetry, and a talented poet. I'm glad to have his most recent book and to have published many of his poems in the magazine.
