Not sure what to say?

He made me love history, prior to taking his class I hated history. Never received higher than a C, I received All A’s in Dr. Hemmingway’s class. He not only taught me that History can be interesting and fun. He taught me that the teacher makes all the difference in how a subject is viewed and how well the student performs! Rest In Peace Professor!

My heart goes out to you at this time and in the days ahead.

May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well-lived.

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life’s routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome...

My condolences to the Family. I was one of many students of Dr. Hemminway. I was a student of his in 1979 and had an opportunity to see and interact with him again when I worked at the University from 2004 to FEB 2006.

Although it comes as a shock that he has past, I want you all to know that he was one of the most brilliant individuals that I have ever met. I will always remenber his booming voice, staunch belief and commitment to any endeavor that he embarked upon. Surely FAMU has...

Although I am from Marion, South Carolina, I did not meet Uncle Sonny until just before the "Cruise" of 2004. I would see him and Aunt Judy when they would vist Teddy and Tine. I have adopted you all as my aunt and uncle. Uncle Sonny you will be missed, and I will treasure the chance that I was given to meet you.

I did have the honor and pleasure of meeting this wonderful caring man. I have heard so many good and funny stories about "Uncle Sunny" from Celeste and Teddy in Marion, SC. Your family truly loved you and will miss you dearly.
Please accept my deepest sympathies and prayers.
