TRAVERSE CITY — Ted Jones died on April 9, 2010, in Madison, Wis. He was born on Aug. 27, 1920, in Wellington, Ohio, to parents, Blanche Pfeiffer and Artie Jones.

During his lifetime, Ted was an engineer and navigator for Eastern Airlines and he built radio stations in Kentucky and Michigan. He moved to Traverse City in 1960 to build WCCW radio station, which he managed for many years. He worked at a local accounting firm and then had his own accounting company for the last years of his work-life. He moved to Madison in late 2009.

Ted married Virginia (Ginnie) Ensign in 1940. They loved their life in Traverse City, where they lived on Long Lake. Ted took great pride in his four children, Eric (his wife, Debbie), Chris, (Donna), Kathy (Chuck) and Jeff (Carolyn). He had nine grandchildren, Christopher, Jodie, Jeff, Christa, Tressie, Ginnie, Eric, Trager and Ezekiel; and two great-grandchildren, Desmond and Everett.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia; his son, Timothy Scott; and by both his parents.

Ted requested a private family ceremony, so there will be no services.

He was a generous man, one who cared about his family and neighbors. After the death of his wife, he enjoyed serving the noon meal at The Salvation Army, where he made many great friends. We would ask those who would like to remember him donate to the food program at the Salvation Army, PO Box 5228, Traverse City, MI 49686.

Kindly share your memories with the family on their online guest book at www.reynolds-jonkhoff.com.

Arrangements were made with the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home of Traverse City.

Not sure what to say?

Ted, Ginnie & Family,

We were very sad to learn of Ted's passing. He was such a kind, caring and generous person.
We were lucky enough to have Ted and Ginnie as our neighbors on Long Lake. All the wonderful memories we have of our pontoon boat rides together and roasting hot dogs on the open fire, in the firepit we all built together between our two houses. We couldn't get enough of Ginnie's delicious potato salad and all the laughs and stories we would tell sitting around...

I want to express my sympathy to you in the loss of Ted. I first met Ted in 1977, when I joined the accounting firm he worked for. I worked with Ted for more than ten years, learning a great deal from him, and counted him as my friend. I know he will be greatly missed.
May God give you strength and comfort in the days ahead.
Dale Vanderwal

To the family of Ted Jones,
My husband and I had the privilige of doing a moving sale for Mr. Jones when he moved into a condo in T.C.. He was a joy to work for and please accept our sympathy.
In Christ's love,

I was so sad to read about the passing of such a great man. Words can't express how sorry i'am for your family's loss. But now your parents can have another dance, one your dad has been waiting for to see his Ginnie again. Ted thank you for letting me in your life. My family and i will miss you.

god bless
