You all have my deepest sympathy in the loss of Mr. Perkins. Our families go back a LONG way and I have many memories of growing up on Tate Street and spending time at your house! When my brother called to inform me of Mr. Perkins, the first thing I thought of was his calliing his boys home and them jumping the fence between the Overman's and the Perkin's back yard. Growing up on Tate Street and McIver Street was extremly different as there were few families with young children, thus we seemed to be together most of the time. I first met Mr. Perkins while researching at the Friends Collection in 2001 but had known of him ever since my childhood when I read the genealogy of the Pearson family in which it stated how much Mr. Perkins helped our mutual cousin Ruth Pearson Harper in her research for her book. He was related to me through the Pike and Cox families of Wayne County, and those of us who are proud of our Quaker heritage are forever indebted to Mr....
