Sorry to hear about Teddy. Knew him well from years at Pahaska. Used to go fishing with him and hiking in the mountains. I know how he loved to fish for the trout.

A loving brother! “Ted” (Theodore Richard) Martin passed away Saturday afternoon December 23, 2017 at St. Vincent's Hospital of pneumonia complications due to a recent heart attack. He was 66 years young. Born in Powell Wyoming July 13, 1951 as the only son of Ruby M. Davis (Martin-Henson) of Lovell Wyoming and Theodore (Tony) Roosevelt Martin, Midland, South Dakota.
At the age of six he lost his father in a fatal car wreck on the Idaho/Montana border and was raised for a short time by his grandparents in Lovell and attended grade school until moving to Hyattville, Wyoming at which time his mother met and married Alton Lee Henson (Bill). Bill was the foreman for Mercer’s Paint Rock Angus Ranch. While living there Ted enjoyed life on the ranch and would walk down the lane to catch the bus each day to finish his education at Manderson high school in 1969. Ted loved most any type of stream or creek fishing but his specialty was fly fishing and he was dang good at it. He loved nature, it’s animals, and being outdoors. He had a green thumb and excelled at gardening, growing plants and planting flowers. He had an eye for beauty and balance which lead him to spending most of his life as a groundskeeper and gardener for others. He worked a variety of jobs and lived a variety of places throughout his life. He was a hard worker and started working young. He worked in the hospitality industry spending a few years as a dishwasher and roustabout at Pahaska Teepee owned and operated by the Coes of Cody and many other places. He even became a sheep herder for a number of years, and lived in Scottsbluff, NE before moving back to Powell Wyoming in the early to mid-nineties and resuming his grounds keeper role. Powell is where he took a more active role in emulating his lord and savior; Jesus Christ and being a part of the community. He soon met his wife Patty Petersen. Their union was short as she passed away in the spring of 2005. In 2008 he moved south of Basin Wyoming to the Wyoming Retirement Center. He truly had found a new lease on life there; loved by everyone and very popular. He became resident council president many times over, knew and greeted everyone by name daily and became quite the socialite. Throughout his life he had a knack for recognizing everyone with the slightest of glances because others were important to him and he valued telling others who he knew in life. Ted’s interests and hobbies included a variety of things. He loved fishing, hunting, gardening, meeting new people and entertaining others. He always had a smile and a love of music in any variety. He taught his sister that at a young age (always playing it way too loud for mom’s ears). played board games, cards and put many a puzzle together with his family and others. He ate candy by the handful and loved chocolate, enjoyed bowling, and playing bingo with mom and peg.
Then a few years ago he decided to move to Bonnie Bluejacket Memorial Nursing home at South Big Horn hospital near Greybull; a small tight knit community which became his extended family. He loved all the staff, and residents and most importantly they loved and embraced him! Being one of the youngest residents, he was treated in a way that suited him well. His favorite activities were bowling, hot dice, and BINGO! He was a lucky little shi.. And very competitive in a fun loving healthy way. It is here, where he met his fiancée Fern Williams. They were to be married Christmas day, December 25, 2017.
Ted had a Jesus like love of the world, he looked at world through the eyes of a child and brightened the days of everyone he met with the most, kind, keen and highly developed quick and witty sense of humor matched by no other!
Ted is survived by his sister Peg Henson of Pierre, SD, his cousins; Jacky Davis of Quincy California, Sylvia Bostwick and sons of Coeur de “Alene ID, Bill (Jan) Hopster and family of Anchorage, Alaska, Ed Hopster (Rochelle) and family of Byron Wyoming, special friends Greg Anderson (Powell), John and Bonnie Nation and family (Lovell), Bill Clark (Basin), Lee Snyder (Greybull), Ron Denniston and family (Manderson), Bonnie Blue Jacket staff and residents, and many more.
Ted would like to be remembered as a “darn good friend to everyone”.
He was preceded in death by his sister Dora Dee Martin (stillbirth), his mother Ruby Davis-Martin-Henson; father Theodore Roosevelt Martin, wife Patty Peterson; grandparents; Mildred and Arne Martin (Midland SD); Delila Jane Mooney Boxrud and Julius Bernard Boxrud (Lovell, WY); George Clinton Davis (Wheeling West Virginia); Lucille Hopster(Aunt), Jack Davis (uncle), various aunt and uncles on the Martin side of his family.
