Theodore John VigelandApril 13, 1943 - Jan. 31, 2024 There are loud heroes – brash, full of pomp and circumstance. And then there are quiet heroes – those who, without fanfare, make the world just a little bit better day by day. Dr. Theodore John Vigeland – Ted – was one of those quiet ones,...

Not sure what to say?

Dr. Vigeland was a great man and doctor. He was a credit to the medical profession he served. I know because when I was dying, he made me feel safe.

He will be missed. Great man, doctor and partner. May his memory be a blessing.

I have always had a tremendous amount of respect for Dr. Vigeland. He was one of those people that you can truly say, "they don't make them like that anymore." I always enjoyed working with him and engaging in great talks both in and out of the OR. This man will be dearly missed by so many.

I worked with Dr. Vigeland for 3 years in the Ortho clinic at the VA as his scheduler. I have so many fond memories of him. He was such an amazing leader to our department and in my 31+ years at working the VA Dr. Vigeland stands out to me as being the most Classiest non assuming, gentle yet stern man I have ever worked with. My respect for him is literally unmeasurable. My heart is sad to see he is no longer with us. I struggled while I was in Ortho, and he and I had many talks about...

We have many great memories of Ted's kind smile and warm greetings at the theater and of spirited conversations before the house lights went down. It was always a joy to be among the first on the dance floor with the Viglands at all those wonderful PCS galas! And, we will never forget his stoic response to the "pigeon event" at the first Armory Gala! Dear Julie and family, we send hugs and love, and we're holding you in our hearts. Love, Barb West and JT Taylor

I knew Ted as the loving, personable and kind husband of my good friend Julie. We met in the early 1980s as members of the Junior League of Portland and spent many hours together as community volunteers. From the start all those years ago, I could always sense that Julie had a caring and supportive husband who happily supported her many activities serving our community. My heart goes out to Julie and the family. May Ted's memory be a blessing through the days and years to come.

Thank you for your gifts of service and grace, Ted. Our world has been made better by you. Sending love to the whole Vigeland Family.

He was the surgeon who finally healed my husband´s broken leg 40 years ago. We´ve spoken highly of him often. After a year in a cast...a brilliant mind succumbed to dementia...heartbreaking. This is a wonderful tribute to read about him! Rest in paradise, Dr. Vigeland!

A lovely memorial for a lovely human being. Sending love to the Vigeland family. RIP Ted! You are a bright star.
