Theresa Eleanor Roderick-Alderete

Teri and I were great friends at Pac Bell, and after, as she pursued interests with the hispanic councils and her many future jobs. Her children won’t remember me, as they were too young, but I remember them well, and they visited us in Forestville. We had a great respect for each others desires and accomplishments. After all this time, I still miss her and honor her memory. It was a treasure to make mexican tamales with her and her mother.

It has almost been a year and I think about you all the time. I'll treasure all the good and bad times we have had over the last 45 yrs. I know you are looking down at us and giving us lots of blessings.

As a friend and colleague of Terry's for over 25 years, her passing will leave a deep void, but she will live on in the many wonderful memories I have of her. I cherish the time I was able to spend with her. Terry has been a part of every good thing that happened in our community. We are all so fortunate to have had her in our lives and to have shared in her intelligence, wit, integrity, brave spirit and caring heart.

Beyond sad to know that you have left us Terry but so blessed to have been able to have worked with and learned so much from you. No need for you to worry if you will be forgotten -- my friend, your influence, commitment, and dedication to the Latino community will live on forever especially for those of us who will find a way to contribute to our community -- you have provided us with the definitive road map. I will miss you Terry. My love and respect to your familia.

My sincere condolences goes to the Roderick-Alderete family. The Latino community,in Fruitvale-Oakland will feel her absence and presence as she was the guiding force for community events, especially Dia de Los Muertos, for many years. Terry was an exceptional soul. A leader, pioneer in the Hispanic chamber movement, a loving and devoted daughter, mother and friend. Terry always smiled, always volunteered to do the work and never complained. She will be remembered and missed by all. Rest in peace, dear Terry as you deserve nothing but glory in the heavens above.
