As a young girl, Aunt Tessie was a constant and loving presence in my life.

For much of my childhood my siblings and I called Aunt Tessie ‘Ma Tante’ while my Mom and Dad called her Tess. It was a while before I realized that her name was Tess or Therese and that Ma Tante was French for my aunt. As I think about this today, calling her Ma Tante was exactly right because although I had many aunts, she was the most special and loved of all.
