Not sure what to say?

Our deepest condolences to her family and friends. My mother, Joan Martin Teaiwa, was Miss Smith´s first student. My grandmother, Hestlene Brooks Martin, was a dear friend and supporter of Miss Smith´s work for decades. Even though we lived far away in Fiji, my sisters and I met her several times and learned her style of ballet from our mother. Many years ago, I painted and gifted her a picture "Miss Smith´s ballet school." My Aunt, Theresa Roberson, always kept everyone in touch and we last...

Praying for the Smith family at this time of loss. 108 years! What an amazing, long life filled with so much history and love. If it had not been for Aunt Therrell introducing my mom and dad in Washington, DC many years ago, I would not be here. I will miss hearing her stories and listening to her words of wisdom. A lady of true grace, poise, and beauty. May God continue to bless the family and comfort you.

Deepest sympathy and condolences to the extended family of Therrell Smith. She was a close and cherished friend of our family. She will be remembered as the epitome of grace, style, and refinement to those she mentored. Farewell my dear Soror. May you rest in eternal peace.

Aunt Therrell was something else that st the gorgeous age of 100 she lightly danced across the stage so elegant and beautiful. Bless the family as you memorialize and pay homage to an outstanding woman.

It was quite memorable to watch MS Smith dancing at Plymouth during special occasions. She was 'forever young; light on her feet, and generously shared her gift of dance.

Ms. Smith was divine. I remember my time with her adoring and affectionately.

It is with profound sadness that I bid Therrell farewell. My deepest condolences to her family on this monumental loss. I had the privilege of knowing Therrell for all of my 84 years. She and my mother were born three months apart in 1917, and were childhood friends in the old Shaw district of DC and schoolmates (and later, along with her sister, Mathilde, AKA Sorority Sisters) - a lifelong friendship that ended only when my mother passed away in 2007. My late cousin was one of her...

Ms. Smith had not seen me in many years .. she was invited to see one of recitals from a current family.. to my complete surprise and Joy .. Ms. Smith came backstage and greeted me with " Hello Lovie you are doing a wonderful job ".. her words were and still are so dear to my heart.. I will always honor, admire and adore Therrell Smith.. Ballet Artist of Excellence.. Lynn B. Welters

I was pleased to work with her as a member of the Women's Committee of Washington Performing Arts. She was a lively contributor to all that we did. Having grown up near her dance school, I learned of her talents at an early age. It was a great experience to know her. May she rest in peace.
