Age 54 of Plymouth passed away suddenly surrounded by his family on July 2. He graduated from Moundsview High School in 1980, received his Bachelor's degree in Social work from the University of St Thomas in 1984 and went on to work as a social worker for Ramsey County for many years. Thom loved...

Thom and I worked on a special program that bridged county services with the Moundsview school district for kids with developmental disabilities. We were a good team. I still can't believe that he is gone. He was such a character and tons of fun. Thinking back, I can't remember many times that Thom did not have a smile on his face. I will miss him. He had a huge impact on my life.

Thom was a brilliant social worker, and he could have run the agency, the County, and maybe the world. He organized complex systems, and had the communications skills to explain it all to the rest of us. His work was more than efficient, and with the energy of three people, he was an entire work unit in himself.
What I'll miss about Thom is his kind, generous spirit with his many friends. I'll miss sharing recipes with him, and his home made lunches. I'll miss his political activism and...

Tom was my co-worker from 1992 to 1997 and we teamed many cases. He and I founded a support group event for Southeast Asian parents with children with developmental delays where more than 50 parents got together annually for 5 plus years to learn from each other regarding resources and skills to support their children. Tom was a big helper to me to convince our management team to financially support this effort. I was the cultural expert. The event was successful for more than five years...

As a nephew, Thom was always full of surprises. And always full of mischief ... how he loved to pull his mother's chain (& also his sibling's chains). He was such a family guy -- it was a privilege to know him.

I don't know that I would've been able to handle my short stint as Thom's supervisor without his help. He was often in my office assisting me with "computer stuff". That was much more his forte than mine. He could have chosen to be resentful that I was hired for that position but he was more than gracious. That is the example of Thom that stands out to me as well as his bizarre sense of humor!! Thom will be fondly remembered by many.

Beverly J. Gaspard Mills - When Tom died it made an additional trench in my heart. When his mother (my sister) died, it really was devastating, But Tom was so young and full of vitality. He could dish it out and he could take it. There was nothing he wouldn't do for you or anyone of his family. His relationship with his nieces and nephew and their offspring was so spirited and caring. I remember him as a baby who was born with a "crew" cut and who loved to have his picture taken.He...
