To the Barton family It is an intimate intellectual relationship of high caliber that your father shared with me in too many hours of skin procedures. Aside from his affable nature and ease of negotiating so many logistics of the skin, Tom shared technical thoughts on his avid reading of the basic sciences of the premier journals, Nature and Science, some of which led to amiable disagreement. Tom knew there was one person he could always count on and that was his bright and beautiful daughter, Avril. He was a Gentleman and a Scholar and times together were spellbinding as he told stories and shared wisdom to my husband and myself at family and friend gatherings.
