Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home - Moose Lake Obituary

Thomas Michael Cich, 79, Willow River, MN/Mesa, AZ, born to Peter and Martha (Adamczak) Cich, died on Sunday, June 17, 2018 at home in Willow River on Father’s Day evening attended by friends and family. He spent his childhood years between Denham and Duluth, attending Willow River Schools and St. Jean’s Parochial School, graduating from the latter in 1957. Tom’s life long claim to sport’s fame was 5 running touchdowns in one game on the Willow River Football Field, a record that still stands! Tom married Faye Nelson in 1957, the mother of his children. With a young family to support, he worked as a baker for Master Bread until he joined the Duluth Police Department with the Class of 1967. He spent the next 22 years as a patrol officer and several years with a canine partner.
Tom liked all sports, playing and coaching many teams. He was always the children’s and grandchildren’s best fan! Tom also fished and hunted for many years. He also had a superior memory for sports trivia, not many could challenge his ability.
Tom was a lifetime member of the Friars of St. Francis, loyal Catholic church member, longtime member of the MN Peace Officer’s Association, owned and operated Tom’s Cedar Lounge in Superior, WI, and owned and operated Cich’s Birchbay Campground in Cromwell with his wife, Nancy for several years. Tom and Nancy enjoyed many years as snowbirds, along with many road trips across the United States, and visits to several countries including his beloved Poland. As a couple, they spent 30 plus spring vacations in Mazatlán, Mexico relaxing and participating in ocean activities.
Tom is survived by his wife of 31 years, Nancy (Thompson); 4 children: Gregory (Roberta) Cich of Duluth; Patricia (Steven) Lee of Minneapolis; Victoria Neis of Minneapolis; and Paul Cich of Florida; 4 step children: Jennifer (John) Razsa of Illinois; Jason (Angela) Heaslip of Duluth; Joel (Angela Loven) of Esko; and Jesse Heaslip of Duluth; 3 brothers: Richard (Joyce) Cich; Michael (Lynda) Cich; and Pete (Colleen) Cich; 15 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren. Tom was everyone’s grandpa and Santa Claus. Rest In Peace Officer Cich! We Love You! A special thank you to for the dedicated assist by American Hospice in Arizona and St. Croix Hospice in Minnesota over Tom’s last months.
Visitation will be from 12:30 PM until the 2:00 Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, June 29, 2018 in Holy Angels Catholic Church, Moose Lake, MN. Cremation will follow the services with an Inurnment Service at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Willow River on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 11 am.
Arrangements by Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake.

Please accept my condolences. Please know that the God of comfort feels your pain and sorrow. He actually provides something better to look forward to. Jeremiah 29:11 specifically tells us God wants to give us a peaceful "future and hope." He promises in the near future all the pain and sorrow you are experiencing about your loss will be gone and we will be able to enjoy perfect life with all our loved ones.

Now there 3 of us. Rpc

Thank you Tom for the wonderful, fun memories. There are so many but our favorite is our wedding when you changed from your police uniform, danced polkas all night and changed back into your uniform to usher everyone out. Wish we would have made at least one trip to polka days in Wisconsin with you and Nancy. Heaven now has another concertina player for their band. Rest in peace buddy, we are going to miss you........
